Another short run of two miles today brings me down the mountains, and I once again see buildings and signs of civilization. I come down into a valley, and once I will emerge from these mountains, the flooding Swat River will lay before me. Within a mile of where I stop are these photos, which depict the usage and terrain of the mountainous land.
For my running schedule today, I switched it up a little. Instead of running at a steady pace through the mountains like I normally do, today I pushed my speed and ran a quick two miles. I don't like to time myself, but for the first mile that I ran, I am curious to see my time. From my perspective, I was really zipping along. After that mile, I continued to push myself for the rest of the distance, finishing with a final effort uphill. I think that it is important to balance out an easy-going long-distance run with ones like today, where I strive to go faster. Either way, I try to consider those who I am really running for, the flood victims of the Swat Valley.
Happy October!
